Marry Me!

So as I told you in my previous post, during the last few months, I have been working on a very important project. At least to me… I have been developing… my own wedding dress line!!! Yaay!!

For those of you who have been following me since the beginning, you already know that, before being a blogger, I always was a designer and dressmaker. I had the opportunity to work for many talented designers, after graduating from the London College of fashion, so even though my blog was on the front line, my day jobs were always about designing or clothes making.

Therefor, creating my own line was something I always wanted to do, for as long as I can remember… But as for any important project, timing was the key. “Doing the right thing at the right moment” as they say.

The real trigger for me was this wedding fair, I visited last year, called Marry Me. During that period, I did visited a few bridal salon but only fell in love with this one and its beautiful setting! Calling itself the modern and quirky wedding salon, everything about it was just so perfect that it almost made me want to get married right there and then. As I went to congratulate the two organizers, Géraldine & another Valentine, I left them my contact details just in case… And to my surprise, earlier this year, they emailed me when they were starting to plan their second edition! Stuck between the “I don’t even have a real collection” and the “I would really love to participate” I decided that this would be the moment, no matter what and that I had to create a small collection in a short amount of time even if I had to stay locked up at home during a few months, summer included. So, aside from a little one week break in south Italy during the month of august, this is what I literally did! I stayed in, thinking, drawing, designing, pattern making and sewing as much as I could until now (and yet, it is still not finished…). I am not going to lie to you, I did also get a little crazy/tired/burn-out a “few” times, but it was definitely all worth it…!

And as you can see from the preview picture on top, not only did I hand made all the dresses myself but I also shot my own lookbook, which was in itself a whole adventure…!
