A few weeks after moving to Paris, I had the most exciting but also scariest request a new designer can ever get … To make a wedding dress!
You see, it is one of the most… what am I saying? THE most important dress a woman will ever wear in her entire life. Not only will she remember it forever, but so will her family and friends! And we know how sometimes people can be mean… That’s why I was scared. Even thought deep down I knew I could do it, it would be a first. I had a moment of hesitation… Imagine if I screw it?!
The hell with it! I am a professional and I am going to do it!!!
I met the bride to be in a little café in Belleville. She was really pretty, half Indian half Ivory Coast, 1 meter 75, and size 36… It would be like working on a model! We discussed, while drinking hot chocolates, about her, her desires and the dress. She showed me pictures of magazines such as Pronovias and Bride Mag. Her idea was to have a bustier dress with a long bodice and a voluminous tulle skirt.
As she wanted something special, I suggested her to do some designs, some sketches with her ideas and some with something I would see her in.A few weeks later we met again at mine and I showed her my sketches. Even though she loved most of them one concept took her attention more than the others…
The feather dress!I admit that it was a bit ambitious of my part as I had never done anything with feathers before, but as she wanted something original I thought it could be a great idea. We agreed on a silk satin bodice and a feather skirt (unlike the picture who has a feathered bodice). Stay tuned for the rest 😉
