Ciao Everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts but I have been quite busy the last few days. As I got back from Madrid I started to work on a dress (pictures soon I promise) and on the weekend I went to Florence for the fifth edition of the Luisa Via Roma Firenze4Ever.
There I met some really nice people, but before I start sharing with you all the pictures of the event, I wanted to show two cartoon illustrations where I have been featured. They were made by two lovely cartoonists and when they told me that they drew me I was happily surprised as I really didn’t expect it. It is always amazing to see yourself in a drawing through the eyes of someone else…

As you obviously know, I love pictures, but there is something much more personal and unique about illustrations. Taking pictures is in a way easy as you just have to point your objective toward the subject of your interest and then click as much as you like. Sometimes you don’t even need to be interested in the subject but might shot someone or something “just in case”… Also you might have your picture altered by other extra element in the background that cannot be erased…
Drawing is just different… First of all, you need to have a real interest in your subject as the process of drawing require some dedication. Secondly, drawing takes time, time to observe, time to sketch, time to place your subject on the paper… And also, you often need a photographic memory as your subject might be on the move and be gone before you’re done.
I am not saying that taking pictures is effortless, I do spend a lot of time finding the right angle, the perfect moment, selecting and post-producing my images. But I have a deep admiration for the people that can draw, like that, on the spot… Those who can catch a moment and freeze it on paper with pencils or pens as only their instruments…
Will you be able to find me?
Thanks to Linda and Patrizia for these lovely drawings!
