Here are some pictures I took during Milan Fashion Week inside the Costume National and Versace shows. Sometimes the action is not the one taking place on the catwalk but what goes on around it… So while waiting for the shows to start, I decided to take a stroll down the runaway still covered in plastic sheets and photograph my fellow front row show goers.
The front row is considered by far, as the ultimate acknowledgement of your social status. If fashion shows could be compared to credit cards, sitting front row would be like owning an American Express Centurion! The more important is the designer the more prestigious you feel. Plus let’s be honest, you do see the clothes way better sitting front row than you do in the tenth..!
I really enjoyed capturing those quite but spontaneous moments before the show, where people are just enjoying being there, catching up with old acquaintances, colleagues or friends, laughing and taking it easy. Even Anna Wintour seemed to be having fun.
As for my part, I never got front row seat but hey, who cares, I get my best shots from sitting in front in the pit with the photographers… You can’t get a better view than that!
In order: Eleonora Carisi, Natalie Joos, Franca Sozzani, Tim Blanks from Style.com, Anna Wintour, Kristina Bazan & Ingrid Chua, Carine Roitfeld.
