A Touch of Blush

Here is another look I shot for the Luisa Via RomaFirenze4Ever event! This time with the lovely Catherine Kallon from Red Carpet Fashion Awards and her beautiful model Elise. If you don’t know yet Catherine’s website I suggest you to have a look as it compiles all the best celebrity outfits, red carpet and off the carpet looks with the necessary added details and descriptions. And I have to say that I find it sometimes quite addictive…

Out of the three looks we shot together I guess this one might be my favorite! I really love blush color gown and even though I am not generally a fan of asymmetrical off the shoulder look, this one does rock! As for the spider, better on a chain than on your head!

Amsterdam

Hallo! Here are some pictures of my recent city trip to Amsterdam. It was my first time in the Dutch capital and I have to say, even though I heard a lot of nice things about it, I was still pleasantly surprised by its beauty and the kindness of its inhabitants…

I spent three days biking my way around the city and its canals, stopping for meals and drinks or just to enjoy the sun into some of Amsterdam beautiful parks. I also visited the Van Gogh Museum and was delighted to rediscover some of Van Gogh’s mesmerizing painting and self portraits. I also did walk a little but nearly got ran over by energetic cyclists every time I was crossing a street… So I decided to stick by my bicycle as it was much more fun 😉

Elsa

Hey Everyone! I hope you are well. I am still enjoying my little holidays under the Belgian sun (and its clouds 😉 However, regardless the weather there are always a lot of things to do in our little country…

Last weekend I attended the yearly Belgian festival Couleur Café and I had the pleasure to run into Elsa Fralon from the magazine ELLE Belgique. I met her for the first time around two year ago while taking part in an article on belgian bloggers and I admired her clever mix of ethnic, street, and prints ever since! And how not to love the way she rocked that turban..?

Another Wedding Dress

So, as I told you yesterday, this weekend I attended a very special event… I went to a wedding, but not just any wedding; the bride was wearing one of my design..! You can only imagine how happy I was to finally see my dress in action after being working on it for several months.

When Amandine, the beautiful bride to be (and the sister of one of my good friend), came to me last September asking me if I could design her gown, I immediately said yes! I only made a few wedding dresses before therefor I was really pleased and flattered that she trusted me for hers.

Zanita

Hi guys! I hope you had all a great weekend! I am writing you from Belgium, country of the eternal autumn… I arrived here a few days ago and I already miss the Italian heat. Fortunately I came for a very special event which I will tell you all about tomorrow..!

But until then, here are my favorite shots with Zanita Morgan, I took them in Florence last weekend during the Luisa Via Roma Firenze4Ever event.

Zanita is a blogger, self-taught photographer and model. The later being quite obvious as she’s simply gorgeous and thus very comfortable in front of the objective. The funny thing is that while we where shooting these, a few people stopped by to take her picture too…

But then again… Who wouldn’t?

She chose to wear a dress which she had been longing for since it made its first step on the catwalk last February. This little number is by Stella McCartney, and I have to say, it fits her perfectly!

Thanks to Zanita and Luisa Via Roma

Luisa Via Roma with Jessica Stein

So like I told you in my previous post, last weekend I went to Florence to take part in the 5th edition of the Luisa Via Roma event! I was really happy to be there again as apart from being so much fun, it is also the best place to reconnect with old friends and make some new ones…

For those among you who don’t know, Luisa Via Roma is a prestigious clothing boutique which you could almost compare to Colette in Paris or 10 Corso Como in Milan. Twice a year they organize their now iconic Firenze4Ever event which reunite over a long weekend some of the world top fashion and food bloggers.

The core of the event being their style lab where each bloggers becomes his own stylist and puts together a series of outfits from boutique’s current collection to be later shot in the streets of Florence. Some bloggers also do decide not to wear their outfit but have instead models wearing them.

And this is where I came in…

Like last year, I was ask to be there as a photographer and work with five other bloggers to produce their shots for their style labs. This year I had the great opportunity to work with Emily Sobels (Fashiolista), Catherine Kallon (Red Carpet Fashion Awards), Tiany (Belmodo), Jessica Stein (Tuula) and Zanita.

So to start, here are the pictures taken on the roof terrace with Jessica Stein from the blog Tuula. I found her to be a very sweet and elegant girl, plus, she has a great style! She chose to wear an Emilio Pucci dress with a Karl jacket and a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti boots.

What do you think of her outfit?

I have to give a big thumb up to the LVR team as they deserve an award for their tip top organization… Everything was really perfect, smooth as silk! Thank you!!

Cartoon Me

Ciao Everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts but I have been quite busy the last few days. As I got back from Madrid I started to work on a dress (pictures soon I promise) and on the weekend I went to Florence for the fifth edition of the Luisa Via Roma Firenze4Ever.

There I met some really nice people, but before I start  sharing with you all the pictures of the event, I wanted to show two cartoon illustrations where I have been featured. They were made by two lovely cartoonists and when they told me that they drew me I was happily surprised  as I really didn’t expect it. It is always amazing to see yourself in a drawing through the eyes of someone else…

As you obviously know, I love pictures, but there is something much more personal and unique about illustrations. Taking pictures is in a way easy as you just have to point your objective toward the subject of your interest and then click as much as you like. Sometimes you don’t even need to be interested in the subject but might shot someone or something “just in case”… Also you might have your picture altered by other extra element in the background that cannot be erased…

Drawing is just different… First of all, you need to have a real interest in your subject as the process of drawing require some dedication. Secondly, drawing takes time, time to observe, time to sketch, time to place your subject on the paper… And also, you often need a photographic memory as your subject might be on the move and be gone before you’re done.

I am not saying that taking pictures is effortless, I do spend a lot of time finding the right angle, the perfect moment, selecting and post-producing my images. But I have a deep admiration for the people that can draw, like that, on the spot… Those who can catch a moment and freeze it on paper with pencils or pens as only their instruments…

Will you be able to find me?

Thanks to Linda and Patrizia for these lovely drawings!

Video Inspirations #7

http://youtu.be/6WsPzz4XSc0

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all well. I came back from Spain last week and immediately went on to work on some personal projects. If you are following me on Instagram you might know what I have been up to, and if not I will be giving you an update very soon…

In the meantime, here is another video inspirations series to share with you my favorites videos of the moment.

Starting with this video announcing the upcoming collection of Maison Martin Margiela for H&M. To be honest I never bought anything from the H&M collaborations but I really do like the concept of bringing the image and codes of an high end design house to the high street. Especially as is is much more rewarding and respectful than simply copying the style of a brand and sticking your label onto it… Also how not to love the way this shetch comes to life…

Madrid in Love

Hola Everyone! Last weekend I continued my promenade in the streets of Madrid in search of some hidden treasures… This is how, after a day walking around and one nonalcoholic Mojito*, I discovered, well concealed behind an ordinary iron gate, the most beautiful little pop up store: Madrid In Love.

First of all, you have to love the name… Madrid in Love… And secondly, how to not fall in love with their beautiful selection of industrial vintage furniture and objects? Between their unique pieces and mass produce factory items, you will definitely find something to long for as everything is full of charm. They also serve some food and drinks, which I didn’t have the chance to try, but by looking at the people around me, it did look appetizing…

*The barman told me proudly that it was the first time in his life someone asked him for a nonalcoholic Mojito.

The store has been traveling from Paris to Madrid passing through some other European cities along its way… See their installation in Bilbao on Clochet‘s blog here.

Open until the 30th of June, if you happen to be in Madrid, I highly suggest you to stop by… And why not go for some delicious Churros right after?
