Karl Lagerfeld is back..!

Ok, he didn’t really disappear from the fashion radar as he is still after all the official mister Chanel (and Fendi). But he did, over the years, distanced himself from his own labels, so much that they both stopped all activity, Lagerfeld Gallery in 2006 and Karl Lagerfeld in 2010…

But this belong to the past as the Kaiser is now back with not one, not two, but three new lines!

The Karl Lagerfeld Paris being the most expensive collection, uses the finest trims and fabrics, leathers and furs. Lagerfeld is the everyday menswear line and Karl the everyday and affordable women line.

I had the opportunity to see his new collection last week at the Negri Firman studio while working  as their photographer for the event. And I have to say, the three collections are all very elegant, well cut, and functional.

Some might hate Mister Lagerfeld for his outspokenness, sometimes well offbeat and others on the contrary will love him for it. For my part, what I love about the man is his undeniable talent and ability to design for several brands while always renewing himself. And in my opinion it is a rare quality.

You see, it is already quite a task to create new collections over and over again but to design for two or more brands is an achievement in itself. Especially that you have to be capable of infusing your identity just enough for everyone to recognize your touch but not enough to smother the brand’s own identity…

Back to the clothes, what I loved the most in his new collections was his attention to the details and the fabrics. Ah yes, and those shoes…!

What about you? What do you think about his new collection?

Video Inspirations… #5

Just for you,  some of the nicest videos I came across this week.

Let’s start with this video from ELLE featuring Rihanna. I have to admit I am not the biggest fan of Rihanna but I do like this video! The scenery is beautiful and so is the styling. But what got me me the most was the light and those games of shadows inspired by of the old Hollywood movies. (By the way, have you seen Sunset Boulevard? It has one of the most amazing black and white photography and light techniques)  So thanks to this video I have now discovered a new talented photographer by the name of Tom Munro. What do you think about the video?

My Design Week in Instagram’s…

Not only did I saw some inspiring artwork and installations, but I also saw a lot of inspiring people.

As you might already know if you were following me on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram , I was collaborating with Dolce & Gabbana’s Swide Magazine during the whole Milan Design Week. More than full shot street style, I mainly focused on details and faces…

So here are my street style shots:

My Design Week in Pictures…

Another week has passed and with it the Milano Design Week came to an end… The city has emptied itself from all its creatives travelers and the hotel prices are finally back to normal. The multicultural London atmosphere that once floated on the town has now evaporated…

I saw a lot of inspiring, beautiful and sometimes just weird installations. I met a lot of creative people but also some who were just curious about what this special week had to offer. Like I told you before, the Design week is an event that is definitely worth your time. If not for the design, for its atmosphere.

Here are some of the pieces I saw…

Elita Festival

Tomorrow I will be sharing with you my pictures from the Design Week, but until then here are some images from the Elita Festival Event that acted for the week’s closing party…

These pictures were taken in the Eastpak – Maxisport corner where you could witness various artist customizing live a series of 20 trolleys.

I have to say it was quite fun to see the artists drawing, spraying, painting on those bags under our very eyes as if I had to do the same thing in front of a public, I think I would have lost my abilities and just sprayed the whole thing in black…

I also loved their tagline written on the wall…

When was the last time you did something for the first time…?

So.. When was it for you?

Love birds in Spring…

Now that spring points the tip of its nose*, a new kind of species is starting to venture outside…

I would call it the “love birds”. Always in pairs, they evolve in our streets looking nothing less than harmonious… With their outfits rarely coordinated but individually full of personality, they create, in their own way, a new identity.

*Don’t be fooled by those pictures, they were taken during the unique sunny day we had in Milan since two weeks…

Swide and the Design Week…

If I had to name you one event just as exciting as the fashion week, it would have to be the Milano Design Week !

Although I am totally hooked on the fashion weeks, especially the ones taking place in Milan, I have to admit that on some points, the Design week is way ahead..! Aside from the fact that it is the largest furniture and design fair in the world;

[list style=”2″]

[li]Most of the activities are open to the general public[/li]

[li]The visitors come from all sorts of areas of design[/li]

[li]And… It’s free![/li]

Il Salone del Mobile, as it is called in Italian, takes place every year during the month of April and is really, but really worth your while! Over a week the whole city turns into a mega art fair full of exhibitions, openings, pop up stores, parties and more importantly, full of people from around the world. In fact, with this infusion of cultures it reminds me of London…

If you are following me on twitter, you might know that, I will be collaborating with the Dolce and Gabbana’s online magazine, Swide!!! I will be their fashion reporter for the #swidesign section on Twitter.*  Which means that I will be snapping pictures around town all week, but not with my SLR… With my phone!

Ok, I know, taking pictures with a phone is not a revolution at all but it is very uncommon for me to have these kind of assignments, therefor I am quite excited!

So yes, I will be taking street style and fashion inspiration shots to immediately share them with you on Twitter and Instagram. Which doesn’t mean that I won’t be shooting for the blog with my usual camera, just that I will be multitasking which is actually quite fun…

So I thought I would share with you my pictures of the day. To have their description check my Instagram. And do let me know which one is your favorite 😉

By the way, did you ever attended the Milano Design Week? What did you think of it?

In my bag, it’s like in my bathroom, I have just the essential, or should I say, the bare minimum… At least according to me, as my boyfriend doesn’t seems to see my collection of beauty products as minimal… “But yes I do need those, this one is an after shampoo and this one is a hair mask…! Of course it’s not the same… ”

Anyway. So today I thought I would share with you the content of my bag and give you by the same occasion the opportunity to win something to add in yours…

So in my bag I have:

A diary…

My phone

A book on Marylin Monroe which I am currently trying to decrypt as it’s in Italian. So I am only at page 1. But so far, so good!

A Miu Miu wallet which was bought five years ago as a present to myself after getting my first job as a designer.

Another kit of beauty essentials… Lip balm, hand cream, gloss and mirror.

Taschen has always been one of my favorite boutique in Brussels. Not only because they are located on the Sablon just next to all the chocolate boutiques but also as they have one of the most beautiful selection of art, fashion and cinema books. When I happen to visit their store, I always end up flipping through their large photo books of photographers such David Lachapelle or Ellen Von Unwerth…

One of my last crush was their Keel’s Simple Diary. A cool little diary/notebook where you can randomly record your life by answering simple questions and games to the liking of its pages. Also I found it to be the perfect companion for a boring tube trip…

As they are now launching their french edition I wanted to offer you a chance to win your own copy!

This diary is in french which will of course suit all the french speaking among you but could also be fun for someone just learning french…
