A day at Luc Duchêne… #2

As I told you one month ago, I had the opportunity to spend one day at the boutique Luc Duchêne along with three other Belgian bloggers, to try on and get photographed in their new spring summer collection.

I have to say that it was really fun to be able to go through all the rail of clothes in order to create looks according to our own personality and style. What is interesting is that Emma, Tiany, Axelle and me ended up with very different combination whilst browsing through the same rails… Which really, was the aim of this experience.

I created two looks. My favourite being the one below. I was wearing a white cotton smoking jacket with a green silk crepe blouse and matching sarouel. With a purple silk crepe tank top underneath.
I was very happy with this look as I loved, loved the colour! Also I really enjoyed wearing silk, which I do especially in summer and even in my designs I have always tend to favour silk fabrics. The white jacket was a new thing for me as I don’t have any, but I think I’ll be adding one to my wardrobe very soon…!

This second look which was create only to highlight those stretched yellow leather pant was very fun to wear too. You see, we had that conversation among us in the shop about those pants…

Too yellow, not to yellow..? So I put them to the test! Well they were definitely very, very yellow but I thought that with a black lace leather jacket and this polka dot top it could be nice. Ok I’m lying! Before this black and yellow combination I did tried a black, yellow AND red one which in the end made me look like an human Belgian flag, so I had to find an alternative as 21st July is still months away… (21/07 is our national day in Belgium) There you have it, sitting on a bench with Axelle, not reflecting about the cold… (well I cannot pretend it was not freezing as you can see it in the video 😉

This project was created by the lovely Emile Duchêne in partnership with Rollin, photographer from the street style blog The Fashionalist, who took all the pictures from the day. As for the backstage video, which I really love, it was made by the talented Julien Charpentier.

Thanks everyone for this great day!

Jourdan…

I met the absolutely gorgeous model Jourdan Dunn during MFW outside the Blumarine show. I was chatting outside the venue when I saw her coming, or better, I saw her legs coming! She was running to her next show but kindly granted me some time. Jourdan has been know for her beautiful feline face and her bewitching eyes, but also for her legs, her long legs which I was not prepared for… Reason why I accidentally cropped her feet in the picture…

Jourdan started modelling in 2007 after being spotted in London’s Primark. Since walking her first show for Marc Jacobs and Polo Ralph Lauren, she has been a recurring faces at the fashion weeks, as well as on the cover of several magazines such as ID, Vogue and Elle. And not to mention advertising campaign for Burberry, Yves Saint Laurent, H&M…

As some of you may be aware of, Milan Fashion Week has never been the best friend of black models, so I was very happy to see her here. Did you know that Jourdan was the first black model to walk for Prada in 10 years..? So hopefully things are changing little by little… And I had the chance to run into another famous black face of fashion of which I will tell you about soon.

Isn’t she adorable?

Birthday Girl: Elisa Nalin…

As it was her birthday today, I decided to dedicate this post to the very stylish stylist Elisa Nalin.

I think she has a very playful and interesting style… As much as she mixes and matches her outfits, they always look like a whole set… Probably because she pays a lot of attention to every little details… From her headband, necklace to her shoes through her multi coloured nails, nothing is forgotten. (I also do mix and match sometimes but mostly because I am always late so I tend to grab anything that is within reasonable a reach… Which means that I look quite far from an Elisa Nalin… Anyway, back to her 😉

She is also know to be very colourful… Now that I think about it, I have never seen her in black yet. And when she arrives to a show… Let me tell you that she never pass unnoticed!

It seems like even Scott Schuman wants to know the secret of her quirky style…

Here is an example of Elisa’s work for Benetton… I think it reflects perfectly her style and her bright personality. Loving the colours..!

So, Happy Birthday Elisa!

Uniqueness…

Last Saturday, I was kindly invited to make a jump into the roaring twenties thanks to the decadent  presentation: Uniqueness by Pinko and Alessandra Facchinetti!

I have to say that I was really bewitched by this dazzling and yet poetic collection.
Taking place at the Triennale they already had me at the entrance with their delicious rose tea, but it is when I entered the room with its walls entirely covered in mirrors in order to highlight the models that they really won me over…

Clearly inspired by the flapper girl and the baroque aesthetic, this collection was truly beautiful…

First of all, I just loved the colors. It was as if they had tried to combine, in one room, all the most luxurious colors ever imagined.. Dominated by accents of gold, the collection was declined in pink, lime green, orange, beige, and bordeaux.

Then, they were the fabrics… Silks, cotton, georgette, suede, sheer, matt, shiny… And let’s not forget the detailing; sequins, pearls, embroideries, lamé…

And the accessories. What about those shoes, but especially, what about those gorgeous bell hats? If it wasn’t for my afro I would have get one right away…!

It was all done so delicately that it was like assisting to the presentation of a couture collection, but  without all the fuss… Wearable Couture.

But it was not all about clothes, as in the other rooms were the video and images to present Uniqueness’ brand new project. The very innovative: Cast Uniqueness.
How would you feel if you could influence the direction of an entire collection..? If your ideas, your inspiration could be take in consideration by the designer itself…?

This is the aim of the project created by Alessandra Facchinetti which allow anyone to create their own moodboard with inspirational images. Those images will then be reviewed by Allessandra herself and could be include in her final collection.
Have a look at the video:

Julia Sarr-Jamois

Julia Sarr-Jamois, the eclectic Afro girl from fashion week!

What I love about her style is that she is definitely not afraid of colours nor prints… I find that there is some kind of hip school girl vibe about her, a school girl who obviously escaped from boarding school to join a certain Wonderland

More on Milan fashion week to come…!

Roses…

Another Milan Fashion week has started..!

And along with its usual effervescence, it seams like it has brought to us a glance of spring before the actual spring…

Thanks to the joyful Viviana Volpicella, from Vogue Japan, her bright blossoming outfit and, more importantly, her lovely smile, we got to forget the cold instantly!

This must be the best way to beat the winter to the punch…

A Day at Luc Duchêne

Not long ago, I received a cool invitation from the Belgian brand, Luc Duchêne, to spend a day at their Brussels boutique in Avenue Louise. So yesterday, along with three other Belgian bloggers, I had the fun task to select pieces from their gorgeous and bright spring summer collection to create myself two silhouettes for a photo shoot and video…
As I will get the official pictures and video later I decided to give you a little preview…

Here is one of the two outfits I selected, which is as well my favorite one! I don’t know why but as I went through the rails, I was immediately drawn to this emerald green silk crepe sarouel and matching top… I just loved, loved the color! So I decided to smarten it up with a crispy white cotton blazer jacket to get a classy but relaxed look. And I even had with me the perfect matching pair of shoes from Noe.

At the end of the day, looking at those clothes, all I was wishing for was for the sun to come back… And very soon!
