Video Inspirations #12

Hello my Valentines! It has been a while since my last Video Inspirations post and as I came across a lot of really cool videos recently, I knew I had to share it with you guys!

Let’s start with two videos from one my favorite artist… I named: Beyonce!
Obviously you all know about her surprise album, so you might even have already seen those before, if you purchased it on Itunes. I, for my part, didn’t as I don’t really like to get all my surprises at the same time 😉 Anyway, Queen B just publicly released the video of her very racy and sexy song “Partition” which done in true Beyonce style, which I obviously love! I also liked the fact that she took inspiration from the famous french cabaret “Crazy Horse”.  You know what was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw it… “Damn Jay-Z must never get bored with this woman…!”

Valentine Avoh x Lady Guilmot

A few months ago I was asked with a series of other Belgian bloggers to decorate the window of the trendy boutique Lady Guilmot in rue du Bailly in Brussels. They wanted to offer us the opportunity to share our universe though their display so that each two weeks the passengerby of Brussels could get a glimpse into our world. This weekend it was my turn!

Yves Saint Laurent – The Movie

This year started with the release of a very anticipated movie on one of the greatest designer of all time, Yves Saint Laurent! No need to tell you how much I was looking forward to see this movie since I learned it’s production.

First of all let me tell you that the actors were just amazing, especially Pierre Niney who not only managed to capture the essence of Yves but revived him though his voice and the way he articulated his words! If you ever heard the real Yves speak, you would be bluffed as well. As for Guillaume Gallienne who played Pierre Berger his acting game was very powerful and yet emotional. He succeed in communicating us the magnitude of Pierre’s love for Yves.

All that Glitter !

As I mentioned here, this year I am starting a very exciting collaboration with the magazine Elle Belgique as their new “wedding” writer! I will be sharing my inspiration and discoveries related to the wedding universe talking about wedding dresses, shoes, but also wedding decoration and food. As for my work I always need to be on trend wedding wise, I am really happy that I’ll be finally able to share all the information I come across with someone other than me.

As the articles are published in french on Elle, I thought it would be nice to translate them for you and publish them here in English. After all, you are my first loves! For the french speakers read the article directly on Elle here.

Best of 2013

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

As another year starts, it is time for me, like almost everybody else, to reflect on the things I have achieved during the twelve previous months..

[COLLABORATING]

To start, I was very happy to continue my collaboration with Luisa Via Roma and shoot their Milan Fashion week street style for both men and womenswear. I also had the opportunity to collaborate several times with Gucci! Shooting one of their icon Ahmad Dabaas during MFW but also working on a mini project celebrating their bag collection with Yigit and blogger & model of the day Elena Braghieri.

A Peek at my Wedding Journey!

Hi Everyone! Do you remember the post where I was telling you about the wedding dress line I was working on? Well as you know, this project is very, very close to my heart and is, luckily, progressing really well! I came up with a collection of 10 delicate wedding dresses and even found a boutique wanting to host some of them!!! It will be a collection of customizable bespoke dresses, which will entirely be handmade my myself.

Studio 53

As I didn’t get a chance to dance on the tables of the infamous Studio 54 in New-York, I decided to spend my Saturday afternoon at the creative Studio 53 in Brussels instead. I couldn’t resist to their sample sale invitation as it was the perfect occasion to visit a new place while doing some shopping, or in my case, window shopping.

Niyona – Hello James!

Two weeks ago I attended the Niyona boutique-atelier opening…  A name I suggest you to remember if like me, you love beautiful things and quality craftsmanship… And I am sure you do!

I met Nina, the talent behind Niyona, for the first time in January 2011 during this press lunch and immediately fell in love with her bags. She was only starting but I could already see how she would set herself aside from your usual bag designer. Not only does she use the finest leather skin but all of her bags are handmade by herself.

My Zinda’s

From one avalanche of open toe summer shoes to my absolute autumn boots! Now that the leafs are falling from the trees, draping the streets with a beautiful orange coating, I can admit that I was very happy to trade my summer sandals for these boots. Although I love fashion, I am usually a one woman shoes… Which means that I will stick to one favorite pair or sometimes two during an entire season, leaving my other shoes for more special occasion such as events or nights out. I don’t know why, but during the day, I prefer to count on one reliable pair than a lot of eccentric ones.
