Blue and Gold

Do you remember when, a few days ago I asked you on Instagram to help me choose between the two pairs of shoes I just ordered on Sarenza? Well, it was really nice and fun to receive all of your feedback! As you can see, in the end I choose the blue and gold ones from Georgia Rose!!

Even though they were already my favorites from the beginning, I was not sure if they would fit so I ordered as well another model, the yellow and white one, just in case. I jumped on the occasion especially as the exchanges and returns are free of charges on Sarenza.

I really loved the combination between the blue suede and gold semi leather… I am already wearing them a lot as they fit perfectly with my new favorite pair of jeans! And you, which one would you have chose??

I had an instant crush on this blog and its beautiful dreamy imagery! Sarah Yates, the photographer & blogger behind A House in the Hills will not only inspire you by her simple and yet sophisticate style but she will make your mouth drawl over her deliciously looking recipes! Bursting with creativity and energy, it’s always a pleasure to discover what she has planned for her readers, as her blog is more about giving and sharing than self flattering. More than a simple blogger she’s a real visual artist!

Crop Me !

Those warm spring temperatures make me want to dish all my shirts to replace them with crop tops only! As you may remember, crop tops were everywhere in the 90s, obviously in a more casual way, but now they are definitely making a come back. I was not really sure I would convert to the trend until I first saw Antara last year wearing a beautiful Nishka Lulla outfit, which I still adore to this day!

So when I later saw the beautiful Sofia Guellaty, senior editor for Style.com Arabia, I was again in awe of her own version of the crop top – midi skirt combo! Her beautifully embellished ensemble was designed by the Riyadh born Palestinian designer, Ayah Tabari from the brand Mochi. (Another oriental brand to remember…) No need to mention how much I absolutely loved this outfit, for its color, its embroidery, its shape, well pretty much everything. And Sofia sure did wear it very well!

I guess the the other nice thing about her outfit is that you can easily wear each piece separately. You can rock the top over a nice pair of boyfriend jeans for a casual look or, for a more elegant look, you could always wear the skirt under a crisp white blouse… So do you feel like indulging into the trend as well?

Insta Recap’

Throwback Thursday, selfies, shoes, work, etc… Here is a little Instagram recap of my last few weeks! Don’t forget to follow me here for instant updates.

First, a picture collage from my time spend working at Alexander McQueen resurfaced when I was tidying up the studio. Those pictures were taken during one of the fitting with his favorite model. She had, according to him, the perfect measurements, and was flown to London whenever required as all the show’s pieces where molded on her lean figure.

This is probably one of the only picture I have of him…

I am not a selfie addict but I do indulge from time to time. Here I am, heading out to meet my friends for a girls night out. The weather had been so mild over here that I could finally wear one of my favorite mid season coat (worn also here) from Coast bought on Zalando. As for the shoes they are from Zinda and the jeans from Mango.

My lovely Olivetti 32 blue typewriter found in Brussels vintage market (Place du Jeu de balle) and my new everyday ballerinas from Wonders. I couldn’t resist to their little bows and painted faces!

A little glimpse into my house with another of my vintage find, this time from the Petits Riens, still in Brussels. Can you believe I only paid 40 euro for this machine! It dates from the early 1910-1920. I love how the brand name is molded above the feet. The dress on the left is one of my own design that you might have seen here before.

Here are some of my sketches of a dress I was developing for a client. I was illustrating different variation on the same thematic. I love this part of the process as it is about finding the right middle between my vision and hers.

In late January I attended the catalogue shoot of the Belgian designer Marc-Philippe Coudeyre, which was very special for me as I developed all the patterns for his collection. It was also the first time I saw all the clothes I developed together with him as a whole, worn on a real model and not just as prototypes. I cannot show you the pictures now as the collection is not officially out yet but as soon as I can, I will post them here!

Another designer flashback picture with Alexis Mabille and I. This picture was taken at the show after party at his Parisian apartment. I worked in his studio for a few months when I was still living in Paris. At that time he was starting to be famous with his eponymous line after working many years as an accessory designer for Dior (under the direction of John Galliano) and Yves St Laurent.

And to end… My first day of the year without boots, winter shoes or socks! Of course it deserved a picture 😉

A Clutch & Platforms

Two weeks ago, as I was planning my outfit for a friend’s birthday celebration, I realized that I needed a dash of color to brighten up my all black outfit.

Luckily, I had in my fabric box, this colorful Indian fabric which was given to me in 2006 at the end of my first internship for Anna Scholz. I was so happy when she gave it to me that I imagined making a million things in it! But to tell you the truth, I didn’t end up doing anything much with it until last week. I decided to do a medium sized clutch, big enough to carry my phone, purse as well as my make-up essential and notebook. I have got to admit that I am super happy with the result so I guess you will be seeing a lot more of it in the future..!

About Books

When I start working on a new project for myself or for a client, I always begin with the same process: Research..!

And for me, research rhymes with books!

I think I have been collecting books since I could read, as for fashion and art books, probably since I was 17-18… And you know, I haven’t stop since! This passion for beautiful images and artists biographies followed me during all my travels where I could always find the one, but usually the 2-3 books, which would come home with me. I guess being an only child, thus having a lot of alone time on my hand, accentuated my reading habits. Later at university, books became part of my routine as I constantly had to research new inspiration for my design projects. My university’s library, London College of Fashion, was one of the best I had ever seen, as not only did they have the largest range of art and fashion books but they also had the earliest issues of most fashion magazines!

All About: Jeans!

Hi guys! Say hello to my first shopping post, hopefully the first of a regular series… The reason why I never did shopping post is because I didn”t really shop regularly, contrarily to what some of you may think, I can usually go months without buying any clothing items and wake up one day craving something after either seeing it in a magazine, on a blogger or simply after saying good bye to one of my favorite item…

[show_ms_widget id=”49411″ image_id=”76396″ width=”680″ height=”936″]

This is actually how this post came to my mind… Lately I have been obsessed with denim as I had to say goodbye to my favorite pair of black jeans, which was also my only black one (I told you I was not a big shopper 😉 Anyway… I had this pair for over 5 years and although it was really good quality, it started to crack, so I had to let it go. Which made me rethink my jeans situation as my other favorite blue pair from BCBG also let me down after 3-4 years. I knew I needed to rebuild my basis… And as I don’t really trust jeans from Zara and all for my key pieces (as they don’t last very long), I started the search of my new perfect pair of quality jeans, to replace my dear black Radcliffe and blue BCBG…

The good thing was that my favorite online shop, was holding a massive denim sales with up to 60% off, so I jumped on the occasion and ended up ordering not one, but two pairs (this one from Koral and that one from James Jean)!

This is why I thought it would be a great idea to share with you some of my findings (especially as some of the sales are still on) as everyone needs a good pair of jeans! Isn’t it? I am curious to know, which is the favorite pair you own?

In the meantime I will wait patiently for my two pairs to arrive…!

Giveaway: Handmade Pochette

Hello my Dears! As some of you have been following me since my early blogging days while other just joined the party, I thought it would be nice to thank you all with a little present! A giveaway!

A while ago, while hunting for some treasure finds in the Milanese vintage shop Cavalli & Nastri, I found this beautiful embroidered organza ribbon piece. It was so delicate and and yet in perfect condition that I had to have it, no matter its price! While I don’t always go crazy for vintage clothing, I do love to use vintage trims, fabrics and decorations such as buttons and borders in my designs. It must be the feeling of bringing something back to life in my own way… Plus the idea that the piece I am making will be truly unique and thus rare, make it even more special!
