Marry Me!

So as I told you in my previous post, during the last few months, I have been working on a very important project. At least to me… I have been developing… my own wedding dress line!!! Yaay!!

For those of you who have been following me since the beginning, you already know that, before being a blogger, I always was a designer and dressmaker. I had the opportunity to work for many talented designers, after graduating from the London College of fashion, so even though my blog was on the front line, my day jobs were always about designing or clothes making.

Ethno Fashionista

I know, I KNOW..! It feels like I have been abandoning you lately… Or should I say, during the past few months. But for my defense I have been working on a very very important project, which I will tell you more about very soon… And hopefully, you will understand and even forgive me for disappearing from the face of the blog 😉 For the curious, there are some hints on Instagram 😉

No need to say how good it feels to be back on my blog, my personal space, my home! And I missed getting your comments and feed backs. But as days are (only) made of 24 hours, I had to choose how to use them. So I decided to take a few step back from my beloved blog to come back even more empowered…

But before telling you more about what I have been doing… Let me first invite you to the Ethno Tendance Fashion Weekend which will take place in Brussels’ Tour & Taxi from the 10th until the 12th of October.

So why come?

Aside from the obvious reason that this event succeed in gathering a multicultural crowd under the same roof for the sake of fashion.. I will be there with fellow blogger Gaelle van Rosen to scout the most stylish visitor and award them with the Ethno Fashionista prize… Now the question is:

Will it be you??

So, see you there and don’t hesitate to say hello!

My Roller Skate

I am not a very sportive person, in fact last weekend I decided to try a yoga class in the park and although I really did enjoy playing the contortionist under the sun, I am still reeling from the pain. Yep, I have spent the whole week walking like a grandma while moaning every 5 minutes!

What I do really love instead, is doing sport without actually exercising. That’s why I love biking around or roller skating! To tell you the truth, I haven’t been skating that much for a while but as the weather was so pleasant last Sunday, I thought I would dig into my old boxes and retrieve my beloved blue and yellow rollers!

These babies date from the period I was living in London, so about 6-7 years ago. My friends and I just discovered that cool Roller Disco place near Kings Cross station and immediately fell in love with the concept of skating and dancing while listening to good music. There were even roller skate dance battle! Which I wasn’t pat of, don’t worry 😉  Now I don’t know if that place still exist but it was my place for a long time…

Anyway, I bought those online as I wanted to continue skating outside the club and take it to the park on sunny days, which I did and luckily still do to this day! I stayed in tune with the color of my skate and paired them with my new favorite summer tee which I found a few weeks ago on Zalando. As you can see, yellow is definitely one of my favorite color! At first I was hesitating with this yellow dress but I got the top instead… Who knows, maybe I’ll get it later as they are so many good things on their site.

What about you? What is your favorite “exercise free” sport?

A Day in Wonders’ Land #2

Hello my Valentines! I hope you are all enjoying the warm weather we have been blessed with these last couple of days. Here is the rest of my adventures in Wonders’ Land plus the official video of our whole day! As I told you in my last post, I had a marvelous time in Elche as a guest of the Wonders Shoes team! Aside from the interesting visit of their factory and headquarters, we had the pleasure to spend some time in the enchanting and peaceful Hotel Huerta del Cura for a delicious lunch by the pool.

It was the perfect occasion to share our view on fashion, blogging and business with the rest of the Wonders team and the other bloggers, Maria, Monica, Lucia and Patricia. Again, it was such an honor to be part of this adventure and be offered the opportunity to meet so many interesting minds…

We later had the chance to get a private tour into the Huerto del Cura, a mesmerizing botanical garden protected by the Unesco for it’s collection of palms and among them the very unique Imperial tree. I felt like being in another world surrounded by all that nature and those animals living in perfect harmony. We even got to see a peacock proudly displaying his plumage only for our eyes! Gosh… I want to go back!!

You will be hearing more about Wonders very soon as I will be collaborating with them on a very exciting project… But for now, enjoy the pictures 😉 Besos!

A day in Wonders’ Land

You all know my love for visiting ateliers and discovering how objects of desire are made… If I could chose, I would probably spend half of my time visiting ateliers all around the world and the other half, putting into practice what I learned…

In my opinion, a product isn’t just an object, it is much more than that. It is about the people behind it: the people who envisioned it, those who designed it and more importantly the one who actually made it! When purchasing something, we often forget that behind it there was a woman or a man who thought about each details, carefully putting each piece together to make it ours. And more often than not, especially since the rise of mass market, we tend to diminish the value of this hard work and craftsmanship…

This is why I really enjoyed my trip to Wonders’ land or in other words, the Wonders Shoe factory!

Two weeks ago, I was invited to the Wonders headquarters in Elche, south of Spain, to visit the birthplace of my favorite ballerinas! No need to say how thrilled I was to be part of this Fashion With Soul adventure, with the 4 others bloggers & fashionistas invited: Monica Parga, aka Miss at la playa, which blog I had been following since my early days of blogging, Marie Zamboli, the bubbly south Italian blogger, Lucia Pardavila, fashion journalist and expert & the lovely Patricia Gonzalez, also journalist and organizer of the Fashion Blogs Day.

We started the day by visiting the design and prototyping studio where each of the Wonders shoes were created, each material carefully selected, basically where each model was born! Then we had a tour into the huge machine area where we witnessed how patterns and leather skins were cut and how later on the seamstress would skillfully assemble them.

It was really interesting to see how many steps the simplest pair of shoe had to go through before it could even reach the stores! Starting from the research and ending with the wrapping, the interventions were endless! In the end, I really loved meeting all the people involve in this tremendous team work, plus what’s better than spending your morning surrounded by shoes?

No wonder(s) they called it Made with Love!! Next week, I will be sharing with you the rest of my day with the Wonders Team.

Here are the pictures from last week’s event at the Marc O’Polo boutique in Brussels! First of all, it was really nice to meet some of you guys, who participate to my competition to win tickets to the soiree! What a better way to get to know each others than in a beautiful surrounding?

The party exceeded my expectations as Thierry Boutemy‘s floral installation was just all so surreal… I felt like wandering around the enchanted forest. Present, most of Brussels talented fashionistas such as Didier Vervaeren, Elvis Pompilo, Edward Vermeulen, Jean Paul Lespagmard and many more…

It was also the occasion for me to see the Marc O’Polo collection up close and mentally add some pieces to my wish list!

Geox

Last Wednesday, I was kindly invited by Geox to visit their Brussels store and discover their new spring summer collection! Although I knew about Geox since a couple of years, it’s only when one of my brides told me that her wedding shoes were from them, that I really started to pay more attention to their collection and realized that not only did their shoes were very comfortable but also quite unique and original!

The presentation was hosted by Belgian stylist and blogger Sofie Valkiers from Fashionata who I was very happy to meet in person as I had been following her blog since a while. It’s always a pleasure to meet in the flesh someone you “know” only in pictures and as I imagined, I found her to be very sweet and elegant. So I couldn’t help but take a few shots of her.

As for the party in itself, well, what could be better than being offered the opportunity to select a pair of shoes while listening to great music and eating little amuse bouche? You got me! I ended up choosing a pair of wedges which I will show you very soon. In the meantime I leave you with these pictures…
